Up, Up, Up and Away...

We decided now that Rylan was at an age where she could actually enjoy the snow, we would pick up where we had left off 2 years ago and head back to Colorado. We had gone a few years in a row prior to me getting pregnant and we had all anxiously been awaiting the time where we would be able to return! This year's destination: Dillon, Colorado. Dates: 2.2.11-2.9.11

We left Austin bright and early on Wednesday, February 2. Our shuttle bus picked us up about 3:30 am for a 6 am flight. Here is on Ry drinking her breakfast and trying really hard to figure out why we were awake.

On the plane, Ry did amazing. We were very lucky our flight wasn't sold out! This meant we were able to bring her carseat on the place since we didn't purchase her her own seat. She just watched Dora and sucked on her lollipop (so her ears didn't bother her). When we arrived in Denver, we went straight to the rental car place to get our rentals. After a gorgeous drive, an amazing breakfast in Morrison, and a tired Mommy it was naptime!!! We spent the first couple days walking around Breckenridge, Keystone, and Dillon shopping, eating, and drinking. The snow was out of control. The 7 days we were there, it snowed approximately 40". We were snowed in for 2 days! Ry was not a happy camper on those 2 days! She loved the snow! Any time she wasn't in the snow, she wasn't happy. Let's just say, Daddy spent a lot of time outside.

On Monday, everybody wanted to go ski minus Mom, Will, I and the kids, so we all headed to Frisco for a day of sledding. When we got there, Drew decided he didn't want to do it anymore, so Will went alone (the margaritas at lunch probably helped in this decision). He was too funny to watch! He had a blast. Here is Grandma with her babies playing in the snow while waiting for Uncle/Daddy Will.

Mom had to run into Target and left us in the car on the way home. Drew wouldn't stop tickling Ry. It was so cute!

Tuesday mom took us for a wonderful lunch at one of our favorite spots, Salt Creek in Breck. After lunch we went back to the house to start packing. We had to be at the airport Wednesday semi-early. All in all it was a great vacation! Amazing memories were made by all and we can't wait to get back there next year!! Here are my loves, ready to get home. Bye-Bye Colorado!! Thank you Grandma Jill for such a fun time. We love you!!

Let's try this again....

So.. I started this blog about a year ago. Well, let's just say, I forgot about it. I am going to do my best to keep it updated from here on out. We'll see what happens!!

  • Rylan is one week shy of 18 months! We will have a 1.5 year old!
  • She is 35" tall. (95th percentile)
  • She weighs 24.6lbs (50th percentile)
  • She is into everything!
  • Her favorite things to eat are bananas, strawberries, any pasta, grilled chicken, and carrots.
  • Her favorite snack is Pirate's Booty.
  • She is still sleeping 12+ hours a night and taking one 2-3 hour nap a day. Some days she will also take a shorter one, about an hour.
  • She loves to sing and dance!
  • Her favorite is when Daddy pulls her around in her wagon!
  • She loves, loves, loves to swing!
  • Her best friend is her cousin Drew. (Well, and Dora.)
  • She is wearing size 6 diapers. We have yet to start potty training. (I'm terrified!!)
  • She loves to read her books. HER read HER books. She makes it very clear she needs NO help.

Our LONG story shortened...

And baby makes 3...
For those of you who don't know the story....

Will and I have been together since November 2000. Got engaged in September of 07, Married in November of 08, and had our beautiful little girl in September of 09.

As much as I wanted to be one of those moms who LOVED being pregnant...Not so much. It was a complete shock when we found out. I had a dream January 1, 2009 that I was pregnant with twins. I woke up in a cold sweat. "Twins? Really??" I had 2 pregnancy tests put away for a time like this. I ran to the bathroom and sure enough...Positive. I returned to the living room, "Will Honey... I'm pregnant." Not sure how he would react, but pleasantly surprised at the light in his eyes and the huge smile on his face. He was shocked no doubt, but at first I think he was more excited than I was. He sent me to the store for 2 more boxes of tests and throughout that Friday took about 6 more. ALL were positive.

I called the doctor and scheduled an appointment to go in. I wanted to make sure this was really happening. Now, I was having to wait 2 weeks not knowing if I had 1 or 2 in there! 2 weeks later we found out, there was only 1!! Due date: 9.9.2009

Here is her story...

The first 5 months of pregnancy went well. No morning sickness, no nausea, eating and sleeping very well. By 16 weeks I couldn't believe how big I was. I had already gained about 18 lbs! We went in for our 24 week sonogram to find out that I was dilated to a 3 and 50% effaced. I knew what she was going to say before she ever said it. Bed rest. She said that if I could get past 35 weeks, I could start moving around again. We went in for our 36 week check up and sure enough, I was STILL a 3 and 50%. This was repeated at our 37 and 38 week appointment. It was at this time I decided it was time. We scheduled an induction for the following Wednesday, 9.2.09. As much as I wanted to experience the "au natural" way of going into labor, I couldn't do it any longer. I had gained 60+ lbs and Ry was already 8+ lbs!

We arrived at the hospital at 6 am on Wednesday September 2, 2009. I was as ready as I was going to be. We were both super nervous, yet super excited! They came in and got the pitocin going and by 4 o'clock I was dilated to a 10 and 100% effaced. The nurses came in and said it was time. "You ready to push?" asked the nurse. Um, yes please. Will was hiding in the corner, scared to death to see me in any sort of pain. I kept telling him I felt nothing, but I think he was more afraid of seeing anything 'down there' than he was to see me in pain.

I pushed for 3+ hours and she wasn't moving. At all. Finally the doctor came in and said we were going to do a c-section. As scary as that was, I was somewhat relieved. Ready for it to be over and her to be in my arms. I don't remember much after they took me into the O.R., but I do remember seeing her face for the first time and saying "She has my nose!" Will was able to take her out to see everyone while I got "put back together" and then off to recovery. The morphine made me quite ill, so I had to stay in recovery for 2 hours. I was then wheeled to my postpartum room where I would find my hubby anxiously waiting for me. I was SO happy to see him!! We called the nursery and they brought Rylan right over. She was perfect. Absolute perfection....

And the real fun begins...
